To germinate the Shorea and Dipterocarpus
Soil moisture is an important factor for germinating Shorea and Dipeterocarpus. Long sized polybag of 12 X 4.5 (at base) inch are recommended to retain the humidity. The polybag needs to be filled with a mixture of compost (10% if available), sand and soil (50% / 50%) up to about 2 cm from the top. The seeds or seedlings should be watered after planting. Cut the wings of Shorea and Dipterocarpus seeds. Position the apex of the seed (the part that is not attached to the stalk) down. Press gently the seed diagonally until the seed is almost covered. Keep the germination wet.

When the collected seeds have already germinated, only the young root should be well buried. In this case, a hole for the very fragile young root needs to be created before planting. Place carefully the root into the soil and press gently the soil fro the side of polybag. Water abundantly.

I use bottle of water instead polybag Below is a great hole in the bottle has many types. 1-1.5 liters of water a small 0.5-liter provides useful materials on the environment.

Thanks a lot Prajin for the information. You are right, using the used material may reduce the rate of consumption.
