I was also impressed by the interest in trees and the enthusiasm of the participants. I would like to thank everybody for making the effort for coming on a Saturday morning.

To my opinion mapping trees or spotting/collecting/ planting seeds can be very pleasurable and enriching when done in small groups. Yet the proposed approach is still new and experimental. We need to find the right formula(s) of collective and/ or individual activities that are fun and try to get them viral!

Bernard suggested testing the mapping of a small area one of these coming week-ends. I would suggest to start with an area where the trees are visible on google map and distributed along roads or around houses (to many small trees in group can be difficult to map). In a first step we would take notes (on a printed google map) and take pictures (or collect leaves) for identification. In a second step we would meet with one or two computers in a local to enter the data.
