Merapoh is a small village where the frontier between Pahang and Kelantans states is laid. The village is situated on the road side from Kuala Lipis (Pahang) towards Gua Musang (Kelantan). Merapoh is where the main entrance of Gunung Tahan National Park. Due to the National Park, Merapoh is well known by the bus drivers.

Just out of the bus at Merapoh, we found a remain of a small snake which probably was cobra.

We stayed at SGIOutdoorwe hostel. The owner is Syukri Jali who currently involves on limestone conversations surround Gunung Tahan National Park. His office is about 10 minutes walk from the hostel. It is a relatively a small office on a big piece of land.

Fruit bunch of Etlingera elatior - kantan. The fruit has sour taste. Nonetheless, it still possesses the fragrant of kantan flower in comparable intensity. The fruit is used as sour agent for traditional fish dish "Na Ni Arsik" of my ethnic - Batak. I also tried once the sweet pickle of kantan fruits at my aunt's house during Idul Fitri (Hari Raya). I still remember its amazing taste.

Syukri is doing some projects which relates to outdoor activities, one of them is building a modest house that can be used for meetings or/and gatherings. The house is approximately situated behind the SGIOutdoors office. This modest house is surrounded by trees. Before reaching the house, there is a big Ceiba pentadra - kapok tree or silk cotton tree where a tree house was built on it.

A bright full moon. Syukri warned us that this beautiful moon might prevent us for seeing the nocturnal animals.

Although the moon was bright, the stars can still be easily observed since the light pollution is much less than in the big cities for example Kuala Lumpur.
